BRIGHAM CITY - Elaine Thompson Greathouse, 82, beloved wife and mother, died suddenly on Friday, January 6, 2017.
She was born February 4, 1934, in Clarkston, Utah, the fourth child, and second daughter, of Seymour and Mary Peterson Thompson. Elaine was educated in Cache County schools, graduated from Logan High School, and received her Bachelor degree in Home Economics from Utah State University.
After graduation, she taught high school in SLC before moving to Sacramento, California, for a job with Aerojet, where she met her future husband. Elaine married Jack Edward Greathouse on September 6, 1960, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Elaine enjoyed sewing and quilting, and served many years in the "Relief Society Enrichment Program" teaching others her skills. She put many hours of love into making a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren for their weddings.
She is survived by her husband, Jack, of Perry, Utah; and her four children: Laura (Duane) Terry of Spring, Texas; Matthew (Karri) Greathouse of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; Sharon (Doug) Gilbert of Ames, Indiana; and Rebecca (Greg) Stehling of Austin, Texas. She will miss her eighteen grandchildren.
She is also survived by her five brothers and sisters: Jenna Lou (Bill) McKinney of Herriman; Carlos E. (Roma) Thompson of Logan; Marilynn (Lorin) Brown of Cedar City; Kathy (Edward) Behling of St. George; and George (Jett) Thompson of Jackson, Wyoming.
Elaine was preceded in death by her oldest brother, S. Keith (Charlene) Thompson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 1 p.m. at the Perry 7th Ward Chapel, 2415 S., Park Dr., Perry, Utah.
Viewings will be Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City and on Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church.
