July 29, 1999 ~ April 12, 2017

Jarek Sonognini passed away, instantly, from injuries sustained in a tragic car accident Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 8:30 p.m.

Jarek, the soft-spoken Senior with long, blonde hair and matches in his pocket, loved all things outside from the day he could walk.

He loved being outdoors and could be found there every chance he could get. He loved fishing on his ocean kayak and anywhere he could get a bite.

He also enjoyed hunting, long-boarding, video games and hanging out with his friends and cousins.

Sharp and quick-witted, he always had a funny comment. He was a true patriot with a strong love for America and the deepest respect for our nation's armed forces.

Jarek was interested in becoming a diesel technician and was eager to start in the coming months. He was extremely resourceful in building and creating anything out of anything. Jarek enjoyed learning anything mechanical and had a knack for turning any ordinary activity into an adventure. He would spend endless hours in his grandparents' backyard, creating his own world, and that world was a great one.

Though Jarek didn't have a mission call on paper, it has been made very clear that he does indeed, have a powerful mission in front of him.

He is watching over his loved ones left behind and leading the broken-hearted home.

He cherished time with his family, and friends and especially enjoyed time with his sister, Teylor. He would do anything to protect her, to make sure she was taken care of, or simply try to make her laugh. Jarek was a kind-hearted, young man who had a way of bringing humor in any given moment.

One example of his good heart was when Jarek purchased his own chainsaw to aid in hurricane clean up last year. He was the only "kid" with a power tool and he was elated to be serving and helping those who had been hit by the hurricane. In his last moments of life, he was assisting a good friend in an Eagle Scout project with his tools and building knowledge.

This world was a better place to all who knew him, because his heart was pure and his love was evident in his actions and the way he was always willing to help. He will be deeply missed by friends and family.

Jarek is survived by his father and mother, Michael and Jenn Miller Sonognini; his beautiful sisters: Teylor, Kaylee and Ambree, who will have a guardian angel by their side wherever they go. Jarek was of proud Hawaiian descent. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, many cousins and beloved ohana in the islands weep, yet honor his passing to paradise.

He was preceded in death by his baby brother, Jacob Coltan. His family rests assured, he is now walking hand in hand with his brother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the Municipal Park Ward, 5930 S. 2200 West, Roy, Utah. A viewing for family and friends will be held Friday, April 21, 2017, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 West, Roy, Utah, and on Saturday from 9:40 to 10:40 a.m., prior to services, at the church.
