Madeline "Molly" Sanchez

Beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, Madeline Molly Sanchez, 80, passed away on June 13, 2017, surrounded by her family. Molly was born on December 26, 1936, to Antonio and Antonia Mestas in Gallina, New Mexico. She was the fifth child out of 10 siblings.

Molly grew up in Gallina, New Mexico, and in Mancos, Colorado. She moved to Ogden, Utah, in 1974 where she met the love of her life, Charlie Sanchez, they married in 1980. Together they had 13 children. Molly and Charlie were married for 33 years, Charlie passed away on September 26, 2013. Molly loved her family very dearly and enjoyed spending time with her children, siblings and especially her grandchildren.

She was a faithful assembly church member and loved to praise the Lord. Her interests through the years were camping, fishing, collecting vintage items and working in her garden. She was an excellent seamstress, baker, loved cooking for her children and grandchildren.

Molly is survived by two brothers, Joe and Frankie (Ludene) Mestas; four sisters: Virgie Pena, Sally (Desi) Alcon, Alfey (Pete) Leon and Helen (Emelio) Abeyta. Brothers-in-law, Kelly Velasquez and Joe Sanchez. Children: Bessie Martinez, Lucy (Troy) Velasquez-Woods, Tonilynn Martinez, Tiofila (Max) Boney, Anthony Martinez, Patsy Martinez, Anita Martinez and Rufus Martinez. Stepsons: Bill, Manuel and Julian Sanchez. Molly had 45 grandchildren; 108 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; four sisters: Hazel (Sam) Corrales, Annie (Frank) Martinez, Lilly Velasquez, Margaret Sanchez. son-in-law, Steven Martinez; and brother-in-law, Raymond Pena. Children, Ricky and Tino Velasquez; great-granddaughter, Anaiya Boney.

Services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Provident Funeral Home, 3800 S. Washington Blvd., Ogden. Dinner will follow at Marshall White Center, 222 28th St., Ogden.
