January 11, 1939 ~ October 11, 2017

Our loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother departed this life on October 11, 2017, from complications of pneumonia. Born Georgia Carolyn Newsom in Tallahassee, Florida on January 11, 1939, to William Virgil Newsom III and Lily Mae (Williams), she married Walter Graham Wadsworth of Farmington, CT, on March 18, 1961.

She is survived by four children: Edward, David (Kim), Ann (Scott Bracken), and Peter (Nanci); a foster daughter, Jena (Fred Somers); 20 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Margaret Newsom. She was preceded in death by her husband; one grandchild; and brother, (William Virgil Newsom IV).

Carolyn was always engaged in a good cause, exemplifying a life of service. She graduated from Florida State University, earning a degree in nursing in 1960. Throughout her life she served others in her work, many years as a psychiatric nurse, helping those who lost their way.

After joining The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in her early thirties, she raised all her children in the gospel, teaching them at her knee from whatever manuals she could find. She was the spiritual leader in her home, and for others through her church service. The impact she had is immeasurable. Her legacy of faith has been an inspiration to generations, and has provided a foundation for her entire family to build upon.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2017, at 10 a.m., viewing at 9:30 a.m., at the LDS chapel at 2301 E. Bengal Boulevard, Cottonwood Heights, UT.

Interment in Midvale City Cemetery following. The family would like to thank Myers Mortuary of Layton, Canyon Creek Assisted Living Center and Parkwood Meadows Assisted Living Center for their gentle and loving care of their mother.
