February 15, 1936 ~ December 28, 2017

Robert D. Roberts finished his life here December 28, 2017. He was born February 15, 1936, to Edna F. Roberts in Los Angeles, California. Robert lived his entire life in Huntsville, Utah. He was a fourth-generation rancher and grew up working on the family farm which he eventually owned and operated with his son and grandson.

On March 3, 1953, he married Shyrel Holmes. A union that would last 64 years and produce three children, 12 grandchildren and 27.5 great-grandchildren and countless happy moments.

Robert was blessed with the curiosity for mechanics. He tore radios, toasters, typewriters, and cars apart just to see how they worked. He could visualize and build almost anything needed for farm repairs or improvements. He built his own home, having never built a home before. Robert also worked for Saunders Construction for many years building chapels and homes throughout northern Utah.

Robert was a man of few words, deep integrity, and strong bonds of family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to family, and a love of the land.

Robert is survived by his wife, Shyrel Roberts of Huntsville, Utah; Vicki Jorgensen of Mesa, Arizona; Scott and Colleen Roberts of Layton, Utah; and Bret and Robin Roberts of Huntsville, Utah. He is preceded in death by his mother, Edna Roberts; and son-in-law, Russell Jorgensen.

Robert was cremated and at his request his ashes will be returned to the farm where he spent his life.

A family celebration was held to remember the life of our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, this gentle giant farmer.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
