December 21, 1944 ~ January 15, 2018

Dean Stimpson, 73, passed away on January 15, 2018, surrounded by his family. Dean was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and teacher. Dean loved his family dearly and patterned his life so that he could spend time with them.

Dean was born on December 21, 1944, in Ogden, Utah, to Orville Dean Stimpson Sr. and Cora Stimpson. He graduated from Ogden High School, and then served an LDS mission in Anaheim, California. He later met 583.2ptthe love of his life, Barbara Loughton. They were married February 6, 1969, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dean loved his Mustang, but he loved Barbara more. Dean worked for 42 years for Hill Air Force Base and retired to live his life in the "country" with his wife.

Dean was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including bishop, teacher, home teacher, scout leader, and primary teacher. His favorite calling was working with the scouts and he loved his cub scouts. He served in scouts most of his life.

Family meant everything to Dean. He was one of a kind and served those he loved. He was in constant service to his wife and family. He said they broke the mold when they made him. Dean loved the outdoors. He loved going to the cabin in Island Park each year with his family.

He traveled throughout the United States for work and traveled to China, to visit his daughter. He loved gardening, hunting, riding four-wheelers, tinkering in the garage and wood working. He built many projects for his wife and children. He always had a joke or a one liner for every occasion.

We want to thank the many doctors and nurses at McKay Dee Hospital who extended the best care possible for Dean and our family. They provided compassion and caring at such a difficult time.

Dean is survived by his wife, Barbara (Loughton); children: Chad (Melinda), Lisa Peterson (Steve), Janel Bell (Cliff), John Stimpson (Emmilee); 15 grandchildren and spouses; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Kunz, and Elaine Andrushko; his 96-year-old father-in-law, Spence Loughton; in-laws, Jack and Lynette Loughton; and Scott and Conna Loughton, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Donna Fischer; and brothers-in-law: Seth Kunz and Ray Fischer, and Gorge Andrushko.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 11 a.m., with a viewing prior at 10 a.m., at the West Warren Ward Chapel, 856 North 5900 West, Ogden, Utah. Interment will be at Ogden City Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Myers Mortuary of Ogden.
