OGDEN -- A semi and at least two cars were damaged in a crash at Wall Avenue and Second Street about 2:15 p.m. Friday.

The driver of the green Honda Passport hit a black Chevy Cruze while headed eastbound on Second Street, causing the Chevy to collide into the back of a UPS semi truck. The SUV then drove over the sidewalk, slamming into a utility pole.

The driver of the SUV, Justin Facer, said his brakes failed, which caused him to hit the other vehicle.

"I tried to swerve and it was too late,“ he said.

A witness said he heard the vehicles collide while waiting to turn right onto Wall Avenue.

"I heard the noise and I saw the UPS truck get pushed forward and the driver’s head get thrown back,“ said David Rhees.

The driver of the black Chevy was Renissa Valdez, an employee in the marketing department at the Standard-Examiner. In an email sent Friday night, she said she has since seen a doctor and has torn muscles in her arm due to the accident.
