Clinton man killed in fall at Utility Trailer

CLEARFIELD — A 21-year-old man fell to his death Wednesday afternoon at Utility Trailer, police say.

“It was a tragic accident,” said Clearfield Assistant Police Chief Mike Stenquist.

Scott Nathan Johnson, of Clinton, was working at Utility Trailer, 1100 S. 1000 West, when he stood up on the assembly line rail.

Witnesses told police it appeared he either stumbled or his legs went out from under him, Stenquist said. When he fell around 4:30 p.m., a power drill bit punctured his chest and entered his heart. Johnson was pronounced dead at the scene after a North Davis Fire District ambulance and Davis County sheriff’s paramedics arrived.

It is unclear whether Johnson was holding the power drill or if the drill was on the floor below him.

An autopsy was conducted Thursday by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.

Investigators from Occupational Safety and Health Administration are conducting their own investigation into the accident, Stenquist said.
