LOGAN -- Police have identified the driver of a car that veered into oncoming traffic in Logan Canyon and was killed in a head-on crash Saturday.

18-year-old Ryker Dattage of Hyde Park died at the scene after the Acura he was driving northbound near mile marker 484 on U.S. 89 at about 8:30 a.m. drifted into the southbound lane and collided with an oncoming Ford F-350 pulling a boat on a trailer.

The 57-year-old man driving the Ford attempted to move to the right to avoid a collision, police said, but the pickup was struck head-on.

The Ford driver, from Hooper, was airlifted from the scene in serious condition and taken to Ogden Regional Hospital. Two other occupants in the Ford, boys aged 12 and 14, were transported by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital.

Police were unsure Saturday what caused Dattage to drift into the southbound lane.

The collision occurred just south of the Franklin Basin turnoff.
