OGDEN — An Ogden man was arrested Friday, Oct. 7, in connection to the death of his 8-week-old daughter.

Michael Lee Hatton, 25, was booked early Saturday on suspicion of murder after police say his infant daughter, Avery, died Sunday, Oct. 2, after being abused.

According to a news release from Ogden City Police Department, emergency crews responded to a call of an 8-week-old who had stopped breathing at 6 p.m. Sunday.

After the mother began driving the girl to the hospital, crews met them on Harrison Boulevard and transported Avery to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, where she died, according to police.

Hatton was arrested Friday after “the investigation has determined Avery was physically abused which had lethal consequences,” according to the news release. Police declined to comment on the nature of the injuries.

Police said the investigation is still open and detectives are gathering information. Those with information can contact Detective Travis Gerfen at 801-629-8477, the statement said.

Hatton is being held in Weber County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.
