RIVERDALE — A teen is in police custody after being accused of firing a gun near Riverdale Park on Tuesday evening.

At 5:15 p.m., Riverdale Police received multiple reports of gun shots near the park, 4300 S. Parker Drive, according to a news release.

When officers arrived, a 15-year-old male fled and was arrested after a foot pursuit. Police say the juvenile was in possession of a semi-automatic weapon and ammunition.

No one was injured, police say.

Police have yet to identify a target or motive and charges against the teen are pending, Riverdale Lt. Casey Warren said.

Though Riverdale Elementary adjoins the park, police said there is no evidence the school was a target. The shooting occurred outside school hours.

The incident is still under investigation.
