Ogden man arrested in connection to burglary caught on camera

OGDEN — A man police believe was caught on camera burglarizing an Ogden home earlier this month has been arrested. 

Patrick Richard Kesler, a 40-year-old Ogden man, was booked Thursday night on one count of burglary, a second-degree felony; two counts of theft, both second-degree felonies; one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; and failure to stop at the command of law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor.

Kesler was arrested in connection to the May 2 burglary of a home in the 3500 block of Taylor Avenue in Ogden, according to Lt. Danielle Croyle of the Ogden Police Department. A security camera in the home showed a man police believe was Kesler rifling through the bedroom.

Emily Johnson, who lives in the Taylor Avenue home, said the burglar stole roughly $15,000 in items.

Croyle said Kesler was arrested Thursday night around 7:42 p.m. Jail records show he was booked in Weber County Jail around 9:53 p.m. the same night. 

As of Friday afternoon, Kesler was being held at Weber County Jail on $35,500 bond, according to jail records.

Kesler’s initial appearance in court is set for Monday, May 22 at the Second District Court in Ogden.
