An 11-year-old girl died during a Nephi parade Friday evening after falling off the back of a truck.

The girl was trying to get off of the truck when she slipped and fell, then got hit by a trailer being towed by the truck, according to reports from KSL.com

The truck was moving very slowly, according to a Deseret News story but the driver was not aware the girl slipped, according to comments from the Nephi chief of police to a KSL reporter.

As of Saturday afternoon, the girl’s name had not been released.

The incident happened during the Ute Stampede Western Heritage parade.
