FARR WEST — Weber Fire District has released initial damage estimates and the number of buildings damaged or destroyed due to the Uintah Fire.

Officials released the estimates through a Facebook post Friday evening and stated the numbers are representative of all areas that had structures damaged or destroyed by the whole fire.

The post said three homes were destroyed, and two more homes were damaged. One mixed commercial property was damaged as well, the post said.

For other buildings, such as sheds, outbuildings and other non-home buildings, the post said eight of such buildings were damaged and four were destroyed.

In total, the post says 18 structures were damaged or destroyed due to the Uintah Fire.

The total damage estimate as of Friday at 8 a.m. is said to be $849,000, according to the post from the Weber Fire District.

This number could, and probably will, go up dramatically as fire crews continue to comb the fire area for additional damages.

Sasha Clark, communications consultant for Weber County, estimated the damages to structures were close to at least $1 million, according to previous Standard-Examiner reporting.
