South Ogden Police Department confirmed Thursday that an 86-year-old man last seen Wednesday, Nov. 8, at his home was located less than 24 hours later in Idaho.

SOPD Master Officer Bryan Hough said a “good Samaritan” spotted Walter Leodolter at approximately 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 9.

“A good Samaritan this morning was traveling on a state road just south of Grace, Idaho, and saw Walter broken down on the side of the road,” Hough said. “The driver pulled over to help and discovered off media reports that he was a missing individual out of South Ogden.”

Leodolter was in “good condition,” but was transported to a local hospital as a precaution. Hough said Leodolter was reunited with his wife and loved ones at the hospital.

Leodolter left his home in South Ogden around noon Wednesday without his phone, wallet or medication for his heart condition and with an unknown amount of gas in his vehicle.
