Two sisters missing out of Iron County have been found Monday evening.

The Amber Alert issued for Dinah Coltharp, 8, and Hattie Coltharp, 4, was canceled at approximately 7 p.m. after the sisters were found near Lund, a town west of Cedar City.

The alert said the girls were believed to be with a religious leader and associate of their father. The suspect — Samuel Shaffer, 34 — is in custody, according to KUTV

Their father, John Coltharp, 33, was arrested last week on suspicion of kidnapping and had refused to disclose the children’s location.

Spring City Police Chief Clarke Christensen says the sisters and two boys, their father and paternal grandparents disappeared in mid-September.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
