LAYTON — Police have arrested a Layton man accused of voyeurism and are asking anyone who has seen him to contact them.

Gregory Robert Shack, 53, has been charged with five counts of voyeurism by using electronic equipment, a class A misdemeanor, according to online court records. Shack is a registered sex offender, according to Layton Police.

Police believe there may be additional victims in the case, and are asking anyone who recognizes him to contact police, the department said in a press release Wednesday afternoon.

On Monday, police were called to a medical office at 2950 N. Church St. after a man was seen loitering near a women’s restroom. Officers found that the same man was seen by multiple women near the restroom “several times” over the past few months.

Women reported that the man — who police say is Shack — would wait until women entered the restroom, and then they would see “shadows and movement under the door,” according to the release. They suspected the man was trying to record them using the bathroom.

One woman was able to get the license plate number of the man, which led authorities to Shack.

When police interviewed Shack, they found he was recording the women by holding his cellphone under the door, the release says. Police say Shack has done this in Bountiful and possibly in other cities.

If you or someone you know recognize Shack’s picture, please contact the Layton Police Department at 801-497-8300.
