Thieves steal guns, assault gear from Utah SWAT vehicle

HEBER CITY - Thieves broke into an undercover SWAT vehicle and stole a trove of gear, including an assault rifle and other guns, police said Saturday.

Heber Police Lt. Jason Bradley said the burglars stole a police badge, an AR-15-type assault rifle, a Glock pistol, and a shotgun. Also missing are SWAT equipment including body armor, a helmet, SWAT uniforms, ammunition and numerous police equipment and items.

“These are brazen criminals,” Bradley said. “We would like to stop them quickly. It’s important to find them and get the equipment back in the right hands.”

Four houses away, in a possibly connected case, a second vehicle was burglarized and a third vehicle, a 1998 tan Toyota Corolla with a red trunk, Utah plate C791PC, was stolen, Bradley said.

Police asked anyone with information to call Wasatch County Dispatch at 435-654-1411.
