SNOWBASIN -- A 28-year-old Clearfield woman was killed after she lost control of the motorcycle she was riding on Trappers Loop and crashed Monday afternoon.
The fatal accident occurred at 12:13 p.m. on Trappers Loop Road at mile marker 8.7 near SnowBasin Road on the Weber County side of the mountain, according to a press release from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office.
Several individuals on motorcycles were riding together when Jennifer Anderson got separated from the group, the release stated. Witnesses reported seeing her driving her Yamaha YZF-R1 northbound on Trappers Loop at a very high rate of speed.
The female later lost control on a corner and crashed. A physician and nurse who happened to be traveling in the area stopped to render aid.
Medical personnel and LifeFlight also responded but the female was pronounced dead on scene, according to the release.
It was reported she suffered severe trauma to her arm, leg and neck. She was wearing a helmet and riding jacket.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation but it is believed excessive speed was a contributing factor.
Traffic flow on Trappers Loop was diverted to one lane in each direction while deputies spent about two hours investigating the accident.
