TOOELE — A small plane crashed into Utah’s Great Salt Lake on Saturday morning, killing the pilot.

Tooele County sheriff’s deputies say the Utah man’s body was recovered Saturday morning just off Stansbury Island and it’s believed he was flying alone.

The deceased man is Robert Moody, Tooele Sheriff Paul Wimmer told the Standard-Examiner. Moody is listed as the doctor at the Biorestoration medical clinic and spa in Draper.

A search for the single-engine plane began early Saturday after Moody’s family reported him as overdue.

The plane took off from West Jordan and its destination was unknown.

The crash is under investigation by federal authorities.

Standard-Examiner reporter Ben Lockhart contributed to this story.
