LAYTON — Now Layton residents don’t have to worry about choosing a safe place to make that KSL or Craigslist sale switch.

Layton City and the Layton Police Department have created a Safe Exchange Zone by reserving two parking stalls between the Surf n’ Swim and police department parking next to the utility payment drop box, according to Layton Police.

“We hope they can be used as a safe place for residents to meet and complete a transaction, buy/sell something, or do custody exchanges,” police said in a press release.

The zone is under 24-hour video surveillance and in a well lit, visible location.

Layton Police made the announcement on its Facebook page Tuesday, Nov. 3. The post garnered over 1,800 shares, 3,000 likes and hundreds of comments.
