COLORADO SPRINGS — The Pioneer Days committee is headed for the Hall of Fame.

The ProRodeo Hall of Fame announced the list of 2017 inductees, which includes organizers of the Ogden Pioneer Days.

Event organizers took to Facebook to share their excitement regarding the honor.

“Out hat is off to you, Ogden, for helping us become one of the best large outdoor rodeos in the country,” the post said.

Along with the Pioneer Days, the 2017 hall of fame class is filled with well-known competitors, livestock and others who have devoted much of their lives to the sport. Other inductees includes bull rider Cody Custer, announcer Randy Corley and bareback horse Smith & Velvet. For the first time in the hall of fame’s history, the 2017 class will include two barrel racers, Wanda Harper Bush and Charmayne James.

The Pioneer Days event will join the elite ranks of other large outdoor rodeos in the Hall of Fame, including the Cheyenne Frontier Days, the Calgary Stampede and the Pendleton Round-Up

The induction ceremony for the 2017 class will take place at the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Aug. 5.
