BOYS SOCCER: Stansfield scores twice as Layton routs Granger; roundup

LAYTON — Brendan Stansfield scored in each half and Layton trounced Granger 5-0 on Thursday to sweep the season series.

Stansfield scored early in each half, scoring in the third minute and again in the 45th.

Kaden Amano picked up a goal and an assist while Leo Urrutia and Porter Madsen also scored.

Easton Embley, Blaine Chambers and Takum Hepworth each tallied assists.

Sam Hunter earned the shutout.

WEBER 2, CLEARFIELD 0

CLEARFIELD — Braxton Ferrin and Max Price each netted goals and Weber blanked Clearfield to sweep the season series.

Austin Allen and Eric Morris each tallied assists.

Ethan Wasden earned the shutout.

ROY 2, NORTHRIDGE 1

ROY — Roy scored a pair of second-half goals to get past Northridge.

Zahir Vazquez and Braulio Razo each scored for the Royals.

The two teams split the season series.

Cullen Roberts scored for Northridge.

HUNTER 3, SYRACUSE 2

WEST VALLEY CITY — Hunter equalized in the 80th minute, then defeated Syracuse with a golden goal in the seventh minute in the first period of extra time.

Junior Gonzales scored the equalizer and Joshua Ubico netted the golden goal.

Syracuse took a 2-1 lead in the 66th minute following a goal by Ramon Aparicio.

Agustin Torena scored in the 17th minute to give Syracuse a 1-0 lead. Torena was assisted by Tanner Young.

Hunter’s Brandon Cerventes tied the game at 1-1 in the 58th minute.

Hunter swept the season series.

DAVIS 2, WEST 1

SALT LAKE CITY — Colton Harrison and Matt Ferre each scored as Davis defeated West to earn a sweep of the season series.

Davis led 1-0 at halftime.

FREMONT 1, MOUNTAIN CREST 0

HYRUM — Porter Meyerhoffer scored in the 10th minute and Preston Taylor, along with the Fremont defense, made sure the goal held up.

Kofi Herrick assisted on Meyerhoffer’s goal.

Taylor earned the shutout.

Fremont, which swept its season series with Mountain Crest, picked up its 10th win of the season. The Silver Wolves have not allowed a goal in three games since a 2-1 loss to Weber on March 30.
