Another MMA card at Legacy Events Center

Tuesday , July 15, 2014 - 9:47 AM

Although mixed martial arts promoter SteelFist has sparred with Farmington city over having alcoholic beverages at sports cards at the Legacy Events Center, another MMA card will take place Saturday night in the city.

The 16-bout pro/am card includes Top of Utah 170-pound amateur Matt Jackson who meets Preston Black. Jackson trains out of One Hit MMA in Layton and Blach work outs at Hidden Valley gym in Sandy.

"He is definitely a tough kid, but I plan on doing everything I can to get the win,“ said Jackson, who like Black, have racked up recent wins. ”I plan on going pro by early 2015, and I want to work my way up to the big leagues,“ added Jackson.

The main event is a pro bout set for five, five-minute rounds for the SteelFist 15-pound title. It matches Utahns Kerry Lattimer versus Randy Yellowhair. Another pro bout matches Davis County 135-pound veteran Sooksan Simpleman versus Travis Worsencroft. There is one woman’s bout, in which amateurs Brenda Enriquez and Carissa Merrill meet in a rematch of an earlier bout won by Enriquez.
