MMA winners include Lattimer and Frazier

In a brutal 25-minute championship bout with ebbs and flows, veteran Kerry Lattimer (16-10) rallied to win a five-round decision over prospect Randy Yellowhair (5-2) in the main event Saturday night at the Legacy Events Center in Farmington. Lattimer swept the final two rounds to win the SteelFist 145-pound championship belt.

In the best amateur bout at the pro/am MMA card, 145-pounder Skyler Frazier (6-1) rallied to stop a tough Paul Sanders (3-1) in the third and final round. In a 15-minute five-round fight for the SteelFist amateur 135-pound belt, Matt Mast, who trains out of Layton, lost a decision to Joel Haro. 

In other pro bouts, Travis Worsencraft, Kyle Herrara, Eric Iman, Lance Gorman and LJ Schulz scored first round stoppages over Sooksan Simpleman, Jud Marshall, Eric Tua’one, Gabriel Pelayo and Gregg McFarland.

In an amateur bout, Top of Utahn Matt Jackson drove Preston Black to the floor but was then caught in a triangle choke by Black, who scored the stoppage in round one. In other amateur bouts, Josh Stanley beat Jon Putnam, Ryder Campo defeated Lonnie Magera, Hayden Adams stopped Shawn Cook, Thomas Prestriedge rallied to beat Taylor Park, Jared Toothaker defeated Aaron Hoehne, Ricardo Lopez beat Sam Hall, and in a women’s bout, Brenda Enriquez stopped Carissa Merrill late in round one.
