SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police say a woman tried to set a coffee shop on fire early Monday morning.

Detective Greg Wilking says 47-year-old Rina Bowen wedged newspaper around the edges of the shop doors about 3 a.m. She then lit the paper on fire.

Officers spotted Bowen at the Beans and Brews shop while on patrol and quickly extinguished the blaze. Bowen was arrested after a short struggle and booked into jail on suspicion of arson and resisting arrest.

Wilking said Bowen didn’t appear to have a grudge against the shop. He said mental health issues may have been a factor.

Attempts to reach Bowen were unsuccessful. No attorney was immediately listed for her.
