SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Three high school students in a speeding car collided head-on with a SUV in downtown Salt Lake City, killing two passengers and seriously injuring the drivers of both vehicles.
Police say the male driver of the blue Chevy Impala and two male passengers who died Thursday all were seniors at West High School.
The female driver of the Honda SUV was about seven months pregnant and was reported in serious but stable condition Thursday afternoon.
Police say the Chevy was traveling in excess of 70 mph on 300 West and may have been racing or chasing another car when it jumped a landscaped median and hit the SUV at 700 North 300 West at about 11:30 a.m.
Detectives are searching for a gray or silver vehicle as they continue an investigation into the cause of the crash.
