OGDEN — Although the Weber State softball team fell short of the Big Sky Championship last weekend, their season will continue as the team has accepted an invitation to compete and host in the National Invitational Softball Championship Regional starting Tuesday.

Boise State, San Diego and Utah State will make the trip to Ogden for the competition, the WSU Athletics Department announced Sunday night.

The regional tournament is one of six nation wide, with the winner from each one advancing to the championship round.

Weber State will face Boise State at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the opening day of play.

If the Wildcats win their game against the Broncos, they will face the winner between the Aggies and the Toreros at 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the winner of that game advancing the regional championship game.

Should Weber State lose their first game, they will play again Wednesday at 10 a.m. The winner of that game will play again at 4 p.m. to determine who will advance to the championship game Thursday.

The meeting between Weber State and Boise State will be the third between the two teams this season, as they faced each other at the DeMarini Desert Classic in Las Vegas this past February and at the Spring Hill Suites Invitational in Idaho last March.

The Broncos won the first matchup 7-1, but the Wildcats had their revenge later in the year with a 6-5 win.

Tickets are available over the phone at 801-626-8500 or in person through the Dee Events Center Box Office.
