OGDEN — Big name players and coaches will fill the Dee Events Center this Saturday at the second Weber State basketball alumni classic, as the school announced official rosters for the event Tuesday.
NBA All-Star and WSU legend Damian Lillard will lead the players in an autograph session prior to the event, the school announced.
Lillard is set to have his No. 1 jersey retired at halftime of the alumni game. He joins former coaches Phil Johnson and Joe Cravens, as well as current coach Randy Rahe, in coaching the “Purple Team” headlined by Jermaine Boyette and Jimmy DeGraffenried.
The “White Team” will be coached by former coach Ron Abegglen, Utah Jazz forward Joel Bolomboy and current WSU assistant Eric Duft. That team will be headlined by Davion Berry, Kyle Bullinger and Nic Sparrow.
The autograph session is scheduled to last from 4-5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, in the north concourse of the Dee Events Center.
Alumni classic events begin at 5:30 p.m. with a “shooting stars” contest and a 3-point shootout. Lillard is expected to participate in the skill events after winning the 3-point shootout in 2015.
The alumni game will follow the skill contests and Lillard will be honored at halftime as the third Weber State men’s basketball player to have his jersey retired.
“It’s an honor to have my jersey retired and to join so many great Weber State players that came before me,” Lillard said in an early-August release from the school. “Although my jersey is being retired for the work I put in during my time as a Wildcat, I couldn’t have been successful without the support of my coaches, teammates and staff.”
Willie Sojourner (No. 35, 1968-71) and Bruce Collins (No. 22, 1976-80) previously had their jerseys retired by the school.
Tickets to the Weber State alumni classic are $5 for general admission and are on sale at the Dee Events Center ticket office and at WeberStateTickets.com.
