OGDEN — Jay Hill has agreed to a new, six-year contract to remain the head coach of Weber State football through 2023, the school announced Wednesday.

Hill, in his fourth year at the helm of Wildcat football, took his team from a 2-10 season in 2014 to now the winningest season in program history at 11-2.

"I'm so excited about our football program and the direction we are heading," Hill said in a release. "The Weber State administration has been dedicated to helping us get to where we all wanted to be and their support has been awesome. I am so happy for the players, coaches and the Weber State community, and I'm thrilled to build on what we've accomplished."

Hill has the best in-conference win percentage in Weber State history and the second-highest overall winning percentage. His record at Weber State is 26-22, with a 24-12 mark in the last three seasons.

The new deal extends his contract for two years. Hill previously signed a five-year deal in January that put him under contract through 2021.

“Jay has done an incredible job in his four seasons at Weber State and is a proven commodity,” athletic director Jerry Bovee said in the release. “Extending him to a six-year contract will continue to provide stability in our program and I’m excited to work with coach Hill on continuing to build Wildcat football.”

Weber State did not immediately disclose terms of the contract.

For the first time in school history, the Wildcats have advanced to a third playoff game and prepare to face No. 1 James Madison at 5 p.m. Friday.
