LOS ANGELES - At least 17 people were arrested Thursday night when violence broke out at the monthly ArtWalk event in downtown Los Angeles, police said Friday.

Police seek interview tape in Manson murder

LOS ANGELES -- Los Angeles Police Department detectives want to review some interviews between a Manson Family convicted murderer and his attorney to determine whether it might shed any more light on the infamous case.

NBC-TV in Los Angeles reported Thursday about the request for recordings between Manson Family member Tex Watson and his attorney. The station said police want to know if those recordings could contain unsolved homicides related the Manson family's homicide spree.

Whitney Houston drowned in scalding hot water

LOS ANGELES -- The coroner's investigation into the death of Whitney Houston came to a close Wednesday with a final autopsy report that described the singer submerged face-down in hot water in the bathtub of her Beverly Hills hotel suite with a unidentified white powdery residue left in a spoon on the bathroom counter.

The report released Wednesday confirmed that the 48-year-old singer drowned in a bathtub, with heart disease and cocaine use listed as contributing factors. It concluded that Houston's death was accidental.

Singer Bobby Brown arrested on suspicion of DUI

LOS ANGELES -- Singer Bobby Brown was arrested in the San Fernando Valley on suspicion of driving under the influence, law enforcement officials said.

Doctors told to provide drug records in Whitney Houston case

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles County coroner's office said Wednesday that investigators have made contact with "a number" of doctors as they try to determine how Whitney Houston died.

Authorities collected several bottles of drugs from Houston's suite at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where she was found dead Saturday. But officials have said the amounts of drugs did not seem unusually large, leaving it unclear whether the medications had anything to do with the singer's death.

Whitney Houston death probe focuses on drugs found in her room

LOS ANGELES -- The investigation into the death of Whitney Houston is shifting to a new phase, with officials focusing on the prescription drugs found in her hotel room and who prescribed them to her.

Investigations are expected in the next few days to serve subpoenas on the doctors and pharmacies where Whitney Houston obtained the prescriptions as they try to determine her cause of death, according to a source with knowledge of the case.

LOS ANGELES -- A family member of Don Cornelius arrived at his Mulholland Drive home on Wednesday morning and found the "Soul Train" creator with a gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.

He was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to law enforcement sources.
