WEST POINT -- The city council in January approved a resolution containing appointments by the mayor to fill liaison positions.

West Point amends subdivision plan for LDS Church building

WEST POINT -- The city council met to amend subdivision plans for an LDS Church building at 800 North.

When the council met Dec. 6, Mayor Erik Craythorne excused himself from the discussion because his family is involved with the business transaction.

West Point audit uncovers one over-expenditure

WEST POINT -- On Tuesday, the city council received the audit report for fiscal year 2011.

The auditors, Ulrich & Associates, said the city's financial statements are a fair and accurate presentation of financial activities and status.

However, one error in budgetary compliance was found. According to Utah code, municipalities shall not incur expenditures in excess of the total appropriation for any department or fund.

Board seeks change to permit policies

WEST POINT -- The planning commission asked that the city code be changed regarding when a public hearing is appropriate for conditional-use permits.

Planning commissioners believe the size of some projects and impact to neighbors warrant a public hearing along with proper notice to the surrounding property owners.

West Point honors three for heroic actions

WEST POINT — West Point City Council honored three citizens: Toni Snarr, Brad Kay, and Ross Wiberg, with the Distinguished Service Award at the Sept. 6 council meeting.

All were recognized for their courageous service to Terri Thurgood on July 9.

On that day, Thurgood, with her grandson in his safety seat, backed out of her driveway and suddenly suffered a cardio pulmonary arrest.
