Danica Patrick mum on future racing plans

The questions won't stop for Danica Patrick.

Until the Roscoe native decides whether to leave the IZOD IndyCar Series and her team, Andretti Autosport, full-time for NASCAR once her contract expires this year, Patrick likely will be asked about her future plans at every race, as she was Friday at Chicagoland Speedway in advance of Saturday's STP 300.

"There isn't a decision today, there's no announcement today and there probably won't be for many months," Patrick said. "This is the kind of thing that takes a lot of time and I don't really know exactly what's going on at this point."

High school senior getting post-graduate education

JOLIET, Ill. -- After racing in Saturday's STP 300, Timmy Hill will head home to Maryland to get ready to fit into a cap and gown -- so he can graduate from high school.

Hill has been a regular on the Nationwide Series since turning 18 in February. One day, he's on the track next to the likes of Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards, the next he's back in science class at North Point High School in Waldorf, Md. That surreal experience will come to an end when he graduates Tuesday.

"You grow up, see these guys on TV and think it's pretty cool," Hill said. "I go back to school and they say, 'Tim, we see you on TV.' It's incredible I get to do this."

Illinois driver works to make mark in Nationwide, dreams of Sprint Cup ride

CHICAGO -- Justin Allgaier grew up in the fishbowl that is downstate Riverton, Ill., where everyone sort of knows everyone else.

When Allgaier was in high school, the 5-foot-6 Allgaier noticed a tall, lanky kid roaming the hallways. It was hard not to notice him.

That tall, lanky kid was Mike Tisdale, who would grow to be 7-1 and become a starter on Illinois' basketball team.

Slimmed-down McCamey of Illinois eyes first round of NBA draft

CHICAGO -- Demetri McCamey returned to Illinois for his senior season in part to solidify himself as a first-round NBA draft pick.

According to McCamey, he's close to achieving that goal.

"I got great feedback, and it's looking like I'll definitely be a first-rounder," McCamey said Thursday at the draft combine at Attack Athletics on the Near West Side. "But you don't want to let off the gas. Each and every workout, you want to prove you belong."

Greatest non-baseball moments at Wrigley Field and Yankee Stadium

CHICAGO -- Pat McCaskey has many fond memories of Bears games played at Wrigley Field.

The Bears part owner recalls how his grandfather, former coach George Halas, would always greet his grandchildren by saying, "Come here, give Grandpa a little kiss," regardless of the outcome. And how his uncle, George "Mugs" Halas Jr., would sit in the upper deck of the stadium and inevitably throw his hat over the railing into the seats below whenever the Bears -- or an official -- angered him.

Blackhawks' Bickell finds listening to tapes helps him focus on job

CHICAGO -- According to Chicago Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville, there's a reason Bryan Bickell hasn't spent a full season in NHL yet -- inconsistency.

Classic Blackhawks sweater remains one of the most iconic in sports

For the 1955-56 season, the Chicago Blackhawks decided to ditch the barber-pole design that had been the fashion of the NHL for decades and create a new sweater -- one that would become a classic.
