Waste of money to defend Brian David Mitchell

Why is the state wasting hard-earned taxpayer dollars on this actor, Brian David Mitchell? For the love and respect of Miss Elizabeth Smart and her family, just leave him behind bars somewhere. He can sing himself to sleep forever. The man is probably as guilty as Miss Smart said he is. He likely took her away from her home and from her loving parents and innocent life.

System failure results in childrens' murder

As a survivor of child abuse, I wonder where were these childrens' rights and defenders? (Sept. 21 news article, "Smiling Warhola appears in court"). Where was D.C.F.S. and everyone else in these childrens' precious little lives? The signs were there and were missed. The system failed them. It was too little, too late in this case and others, too often.

Drugs coming from Mexico are the real problems

Enough, already on all illegals. All crime is not committed by Mexicans, only unfortunately, the media and the finger pointing have gotten out of hand. Freedom of speech or not, the real problem is drugs. The trafficking of drugs is mostly from the Mexican borders and has been for decades. Unfortunately, so has crime; and it is growing with the times.

Families have suffered for years and some continue to do so because of drugs and their consequences for all of us, Mexicans, whites and all other groups.

The problem is not "single," it's just being singled out.
