I strongly oppose Ogden City's draconian east bench leash laws (6 months in jail Class B mis). I agree that owners should be in control of their dogs and should clean up after them. I think the city should allow off leash days and areas much like Salt Lake City does in Millcreek Canyon. Driving to the inner city to allow my dog to run around in a chain link cage is not quite the same experience as exploring the Wasatch range. It seems, that the City's knee jerk reaction for a few irresponsible dog owners is close the entire area. Ironically, since one of the City's implied goals is to keep the area pristine, why don't we pass an ordinance that protects the east bench from development? This summer's flurry of construction, dumptrucks, bulldozers,...concrete and steel, is what I find really obscene.
