Layton High School students raise $10,546 during PARC fundraiser

LAYTON -- It says a lot about a school when students, some of whom don't have a lot to give in the first place, can scrounge up extra change and spare dollars and earn more than $10,000 for a good cause.

NORTH SALT LAKE -- Little did April Giauque, a fifth-grade teacher at Spectrum Academy in North Salt Lake, know that a way to improve her son's reading ability could be as simple as pulling out some cups and stacking them in pyramid formation.

OGDEN -- One of the more elusive groups in Ogden is the nonexistent Ogden Symphony, a group often thought to exist when performances are provided by the Ogden Symphony Ballet Association.

Cottrell was inspired to write the book “Cecil Celiac is Sleeping in Gabe’s Gut” after her grandson, 5, was diagnosed with celiac disease and had trouble understanding why he has to be careful to avoid foods and drinks containing gluten. Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease in which gluten can damage the small intestine.

 SOUTH WEBER -- About 250 students from Northridge High School cascaded into a field of mud Wednesday afternoon at the South Weber Posse Grounds.

It was one of their celebrations for homecoming week, and what better way to build student camaraderie than by wrestling in the mud?
