Rambler's exaggerations create woes for Layton resident

Editor,

The Wasatch Rambler’s Feb. 5 column, “Guns and cartoons and some praise for weekend donation stories,” is a travesty and a slap in the face to any real valuable journalism but it is typical of Mr. Trentelman’s column.

The phrases Mr. Trentelman uses to describe Mr. Niederhauser’s actions are despicable, and meant to embarrass and belittle a good man’s actions in the defense of his home, his neighborhood, his community, and his family.

Walking out of Layton meeting solved nothing

Editor,

An opportunity was missed. On Oct. 10, Layton city sponsored a public forum at Layton High School to allow open discussion regarding all aspects of the West Layton Village ordinances. I attended to try and understand how the village center would adversely affect farmers and farming on the west side of the city, as claimed by the opposition. Mayor Curtis opened the meeting and introduced the major players. Two men, representing the opposition, got up and read statements defining their positions and concluded by asking everyone interested in knowing the truth to get up and walk out of the forum in protest. A few in attendance did just that; they walked out.

Let's hope'Wasatch Grumbler' gets another free ticket

Editor,

I think the Standard did a great job with the Olympic memories section of Sunday's paper (Feb. 12, "Rekindle the fire within"). If there is one person in the Top of Utah who would have a problem with the 2002 Olympics it would be the Wasatch "Grumbler" (Feb. 12, "Let the games begin, but let someone else pay for it"). Talk about turning a hugely positive experience into a downer, congratulations Mr. Trentelman.
