DETROIT -- An Eastern Michigan University student who was expelled from a counseling program because she refused to counsel gays and lesbians about their lifestyles won a key victory Friday in the U.S. 6th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Judge strikes down part of funeral protest law

DETROIT -- A federal judge declared part of Michigan's hastily enacted funeral protest law unconstitutional Thursday, saying the ban on conduct that would "adversely affect" a funeral, memorial service, viewing or procession is too vague for police to enforce.

DETROIT -- A 41-year-old man from Redford Township, Mich., pleaded guilty Monday to charges that he persuaded seven women he met on the Internet to sexually assault their children and then send him pictures of their acts.

DETROIT -- The Justice Department filed an antitrust suit Monday against Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, accusing the giant health insurer of using its market clout to stifle competition and cause consumers to pay more for hospital care.
