MORGAN -- Facing another tough budget year, the Morgan County School Board has tentatively approved a priority list of budget cuts.

MORGAN -- Could a 60-room motel really make it in Morgan city? Chances are moderately favorable, according to a market analysis provided to the city's consultant, former Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey.

"There has been considerable interest by many developers for this project and I believe we will be able to find a good match. Morgan is a great community with very capable leaders who are very committed to having a hotel in their community to meet the needs of their citizens and businesses," Godfrey said in an email response to questions. "I think a hotel is important to their growth and success."

Riverdale official defends RDA meeting expenses

RIVERDALE -- Although some residents are questioning Redevelopment Authority expenses, the city administrator is defending city procedures as showing a commitment to open government.

"It is public business and should be acted upon in a public meeting," Riverdale City Administrator Larry L. Hansen said.

According to a post on the Riverdale City citizens Facebook page, some residents are wondering why the city holds monthly RDA meetings, when some of those meetings only last a couple of minutes.

MORGAN — The Morgan County School Board has unanimously approved a late start for Morgan High School and Morgan Middle School, as well as an early out for both district elementary schools on Wednesdays starting in the 2012-13 school year.

Morgan candidates seek to improve county, education

MORGAN — All three candidates for the Morgan County Council will be unopposed, and none of the incumbents is running for his or her current seat.

But one face won’t be new. Robert Kilmer, who has filled an at-large council seat since 2011, filed for the four-year District 3 seat. He will be replacing Howard Hansen, who has served on the board for four years.

MORGAN — Morgan city has accepted a contract with former Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey for economic development activities, including grant writing and wooing a hotel developer to the area.

Riverdale committee urges no-parking zone near splash pad

RIVERDALE — The city’s Risk Management Committee has recommended a no-parking zone on the west side of Parker Drive around Riverdale Park.

Although parking is limited on the north side of the park near the more attractive features such as the splash pad, large pavilion and playground, plenty of parking is available at the Riverdale Community Center and Riverdale Elementary School, the committee said.
