Hill AFB Exchange poised to decrease theft in 2010

Despite a focus on Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems, closed circuit television cameras and an aggressive youth shoplifting awareness campaign, shoplifting at Exchange facilities rose 22 percent last year, from 37 incidents in 2008 to 45 in 2009. As a result, the cost of merchandise involved in shoplifting at Hill Air Force Base Exchange last year rose from $4,415.97 in 2008 to $4,771.97.

It pays to be 'green' at Hill Air Force Base

The Hill Air Force Base BX is rewarding military shoppers who are doing their part for the environment through its new "Use a Bag, Save the Planet" initiative.

Instead of using traditional plastic bags, retail facilities at Hill AFB are encouraging shoppers to bring their own reusable bags. Beyond helping the environment, shoppers that "Use a Bag, Save the Planet" will get five cents back for every reusable bag used.
