Editor,I'm a crossing guard on 1900 West in Roy. I would like people to know what happened on Jan. 22, but first I want to thank all who slow down and come to a complete stop after I turn on my flashing lights, and place both cones in the crosswalk. There is a lot of traffic on 1900 West.In both directions, at about 8:15 a.m., both lanes heading south were slowing down. For some reason, the girl in the back (there were four cars in front of her), decided she didn't have to go that slow. She went from her lane into the middle-turning lane as fast as she could go in order to get in front of the first car. She cut her off as she was going into her lane. As she started moving over, she hit my first cone. From the point where she hit it, to the place it landed was about 30 feet! She hit it so hard it tore off the top part of the cone!
