Politicians offer lip service at public meetings

City council meetings and public hearings have one purpose. Both meetings provide lip service as to what politicians propose to do. If anyone thinks that attending these meetings and giving input will make a difference, they are living in fantasy land. Public hearings are held because that's the law. Public hearings are held to hear comments from the public, but the public is not heard, even if they're right. Everything has already been decided out of earshot of the public.

Hooper needs more transparency

Every city in Utah except Hooper discloses its plans in the paper. Are the goings on in Hooper so ridiculous they don't want any newspaper exposure?

Hooper citizens are completely in the dark. They know more about what's going on from Yost to St. George than about their own hometown.

Hooper should help pay for kids' sports

Some Hooper politicians keep assuring us that they love our kids. Why do they keep saying this? Action speaks louder than words.

When they were approached about helping kids pay to play sports, they said they couldn't afford it. Three hundred of the kids who participate in West Haven's sport program are Hooper kids. Hooper kids have always loved sports.

West Haven's recreation program runs in the red each year. Sign-ups do not pay the expenses. West Haven has to subsidize their recreation program to the tune of $215,000 each year. When Hooper was asked to kick in $5,000 to help pay expenses, Hooper acted like West Haven was asking for the world.
