USOC: No change planned in relationship with BP

The U.S. Olympic Committee intends to maintain its partnership with BP, hoping the company that provides about $15 million in sponsorship funding through 2012 can find "as quick a solution as possible" to the crisis in the Gulf.

Ribbon cut on new USOC headquarters

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- CEO Scott Blackmun took the scissors to cut the ribbon on the new U.S. Olympic Committee headquarters and joked, "Good thing we didn't have these halfway through the process."

Grass roots courting brings America back to tennis

DENVER -- The magazine cover and accompanying story sit on Kurt Kamperman's desk -- a reminder of where his sport has been and where it cannot go again.

"Is Tennis Dying?" the Sports Illustrated cover asks. Inside is a 5,000-word discourse about the slow, sad dismantling of the Great American Tennis Boom, which blossomed in the days of McEnroe, Connors and Evert back in the late '70s and early '80s.
Since the dark days of that May 1994 magazine cover, leaders in tennis have recalibrated their formula and repackaged their product.

NBC remains intent on bidding for 2016 Olympics

DENVER -- NBC plans on bidding for rights to televise the 2014 and 2016 Olympics despite the U.S. Olympic Committee's decision to build a competing Olympic network.

NBC spokesman Brian Walker said Sunday that nothing had changed in the network's intentions to bid for the games.
Because of the rough economy, the International Olympic Committee has postponed the bidding for the 2014 and 2016 Olympics, likely until after the 2016 Games are awarded in October. Chicago, Madrid, Rio de Janeiro and Tokyo are the finalists.
