Sea of traffic

Our View: A streetlight for the Egyptian?

We agree with Ogden Mayor Mike Caldwell that having a pedestrian streetlight installed at the Washington crosswalk by the Egyptian Theatre is a good idea. It would require vehicles to stop for pedestrian traffic during high volume times, such as when the Egyptian empties following a weekend evening movie or other performance.

Our View: Manning to face consequences

To many people, U.S. Army intelligence analyst Bradley Manning is a hero. Manning is accused of leaking classified U.S. documents to the website, WikiLeaks. The information compromised the security of many U.S. military members as well as others who — at peril to their own lives — have assisted the U.S. and its allies in the war on terrorism.

Our View: Thumbs up, thumbs down

Thumbs up: To the NCAA Bowl Championship Committee, which finally implemented a four-team national championship playoff for college football starting in 2014. A larger playoff sans BCS influence would be far better, but at least this is a change.

Thumbs down: To unethical members of Congress. More than a dozen, including House Speaker John Boehner, changed their investments after meeting with major financial leaders during the financial meltdown in 2008. That behavior is both shameless and outrageous.
