After reading the recent guest commentary by Bruce Ahlstrom, "Paper owes Huntsville an apology," I must respectfully disagree. I was at the parade and saw the float and was one of those who was offended. I was not offended at the mask, the kids who were enjoying the lampoon, or the family's right to free speech. But I was highly offended at the reference to assault rifles on the back of the car. The family, and their apologists', explanation that it was harmless take-off on "Fast and Furious" is such a stretch of imagination as to be doubly offensive. The purpose of the float was to celebrate the defeat of President Obama in the upcoming election.
