The classics: The best of books & the worst of books

They were the best of books, they were the worst of books; it was the age of homework, it was the age of procrastination. ... "we had everything before us, we had nothing before us," as Charles Dickens wrote in his famous "A Tale of Two Cities."

According to college professors, high school teachers and that random neighbor down the street, classic novels are the best of books.

Rock your hobby

The end of the school year is fast approaching and between homework, classes and year-end exams, it can feel like there isn't time for anything else.

So how do Top of Utah teens spend those few precious moments of free time?

For Danielle Wall, a senior at Morgan High School, those moments are full of activities, her favorite being scuba diving.

"My friends and I thought it would be fun and one day we just decided to do it, so we went and got certified, and ever since we go whenever we have free time," Wall says.

Rapunzel lets down hair in classic fashion

We're all familiar with the classic fairy tale of Rapunzel. In a nutshell, there's a princess with super long hair trapped in an old tower who is saved by a handsome prince who climbs her hair to rescue her. But what happens when you throw a little Disney magic into the mix? You get an instant Disney classic.

"Tangled" is a fun-filled movie perfect for nearly any audience with humor and entertaining characters which hold your attention. My personal favorite character is Pascal, the silent and funny chameleon. Before Flynn Rider stumbles on Rapunzel's tower, Pascal is Rapunzel's only friend.

Best of times, worst of times

You sit down and pull out your notebook, turning to face the front of class. How could biology get any better? You get to sit next to your best friend and your biology teacher not only makes sense, but also makes things entertaining.

But what happens when the stress sets in? How do you continue to look on the bright side? Although some people look at the new school year positively, other students see some downsides.

Summer lovin' all about the chemistry

Throughout the school year students are caught counting down to one thing: summer. It's a time of freedom. No homework, no teachers and virtually no stress. When school starts up in the fall the question asked isn't "What are you going to do with your school year?" but rather "What did you do with your summer?"

It's a quest for fun

We all have a favorite vacation, a time and place that, if we could, we'd return to in a heartbeat. But what makes a vacation special? What distinguishes between a favorite vacation and just a boring overnighter at a hotel?

Everyone loves a good Fourth of July celebration. I mean, can you get much better than delicious food, bright fireworks and great times?

Sister's cancer teaches lessons

Life throws at us many unexpected obstacles, things we never plan for. Things we doubt we can handle or that we would gladly avoid at all costs, but unfortunately we can't. Life doesn't work that way.

College costs covered?

College -- one word that many teens plan for in their future. It broadens horizons and opens up many opportunities.
