Candidates, pols, parties are defined by their inaction

"Cri de Coeur" – my exclamation after reading about what our governor, and many legislators feel about our federal government. It’s my cry since the wife is babysitting our two-year-old granddaughter and it concerns and troubles me greatly wondering what kind of country and world she’ll have in 20 years

I also must comment on some recent commentaries and the state of our great political process of choosing a president.

Utah's redistricting anguish

Reading these recent articles over Utah's legislators' anguish in coming up with a "fair" redistricting map makes me think of an old Marine Corps saying -- "pole vaulting over ant hills."

Those of you that have read me before are familiar with two favorite sayings, KISS (Keep It Simple & Short) and things should be as simple as they can be but not simpler (A Einstein).

New Congress may not shake up government much

Iread with great interest, as I do with most writings by the Standard-Examiner opinion editor, Doug Gibson's "If GOP takes over Congress, hard choices must be made" viewpoint from Sept. 10. I wanted to wait until final primaries were over before I offered a different viewpoint and where I believe the good editor missed the target.

Common sense trumps education

I thought by now someone, pro or con, would have commented on Sunday's piece about how much our mayor should make. ("How much should your mayor make?," Nov. 14)
