It is that time of year again when real property valuation notices are mailed to property owners in Weber County. The question is often asked, "How does my assessed value affect my property tax?" The answer is, not in the way most people think.

It is that time of year again when property owners receive their valuation notices from Weber County. Owners are often concerned about the value the County Assessor's Office has placed on their property. What should they do next? At this point, a valuation appeal of the value is in order if the value is too high. There are a few things that you, as the property owner, need to know before filing an appeal.
First, what are you appealing? What the property owner is appealing is the estimated value of the parcel in question. The property owner is not appealing the property tax. While there is a direct relationship between assessed value and the tax associated with it, the property tax itself cannot be appealed.
