Mustangs extend lead over Moose in sweep

PARK CITY -- The Ogden Mustangs defeated the Park City Junior Moose 4-1 on Friday and 4-2 on Saturday to gain some much-needed momentum going into a long home stretch.

The Mustangs play 11 of their final 13 games of the Western States Hockey Lague regular season on home ice and have themselves in good position for a playoff spot.

"When you can get two road wins like this, knowing that your coming back to playing at home, that's just huge," said Ogden coach Joe Pfleegor. "Talk about a positive. The boys are going to really feed on this."

Mustangs lose momentum vs. high Flyers

After a three-week break over the holidays, the Ogden Mustangs were back on the ice last weekend in Valencia, Calif., with hopes to pick up where they had left off.

Mustangs are back on track and looking for more

It had been almost two months since their last victory, but after a 12-game losing streak, including back-to-back overtime losses at home, the Ogden Mustangs have fought their way back into the win column.

The Mustangs (6-19-3) played four games in four days during The Western States Shootout and went 3-1 in those contests.

Ogden opened with a 5-2 win over the Dallas Snipers on Friday, then fell 3-2 to the Arizona Red Hawks on Friday, but bounced back to beat the Long Beach Bombers 5-3 and the Phoenix Knights 7-2 on Sunday and Monday, respectively.

The Ogden Mustangs gained two new players but lost three games in Texas over the past week.

David Bechard and Devon Detillieux signed with the Mustangs from the Butte Roughriders of the Northern Pacific Hockey League last week. They met their new teammates, got in one practice in Ogden and then headed on a 22-hour bus trip to Dallas for a three-game series against the Ice Jets.

Ice hockey: Mustangs can't find their form

OGDEN -- The Ogden Mustangs came into Saturday's game desperate for a victory after losing six straight games and before starting a portion of their schedule where they play 12 consecutive road games.

The desperation wasn't shown.

Mustangs lose three straight to Gulls

OGDEN -- The Ogden Mustangs had flashes of brilliance but lacked the energy to finish the job in their three-game series against the San Diego Gulls last weekend at The Ice Sheet.

The Mustangs fell 5-3 on Friday, 4-1 on Saturday and 3-0 on Sunday.

"We just got outworked," said Ogden coach Devin Firl. "They're a great team, and we didn't show up like we needed to. We try to stress that we need to have a complete, 60-minute effort out there. But we haven't been getting that."
