After reading Mr. Beauchamp's guest commentary of Jan. 12 ("Just the facts, ma'am!"), I must say to him as he demanded of her, "just the facts, sir! On September 11, 2001, four planes were hijacked by terrorists, who were trained in Afghanistan. These planes were destined to be flown into four buildings. Three reached their targets and close to 3,000 persons lost their lives. This plot was carried out by a terrorist group al-Queda. Bush demanded from the Taliban leaders in Afghanistan to deliver the leader Osama bin Laden to the U.S. and they declined. Hence, the invasion of Afghanistan by U.S. United Kingdom, Australia, and the Afghanistan united front began.
